  1. Mira que yo no soy de creer eso de que «cualquier tiempo pasado fue mejor»… pero qué rematadamente mal está Marvel, es que no hay nada aprovechable, bajo mi gusto.
    Si definitivamente Al Ewing se pira para DC no les quedará ni una sola estrella, ni un talento emergente. Yo todavía no he leído la noticia de que deje Marvel del todo, pero empezó haciendo una colaboración puntual para el Pride de DC y ahora va a asumir Green Lantern, y supongo que eso no es compatible con seguir haciendo Immortal Thor. Y esa era la última serie Marvel que estaba siguiendo. Me atreví a darle una oportunidad al Spiderman de Zeb Wells porque su arranque con JR JR no estuvo mal, pero el descenso de calidad fue tan rápido y brusco como una montaña rusa. La guerra de bandas que se ha marcado es un despropósito de principio a fin. El Capi de Straczynski ha resultado ser una chorrada de lo más autoindulgente, con cero originalidad (sin contar el hecho de que ahora no se encuentra una serie que mantenga el mismo dibujante regular más de tres número seguidos, cosa que también echa para atrás)… Vamos, que solo mantenía ciertas esperanzas con Thor, y parece que la cosa también se acaba. Lo dicho, un páramo.

    Por cierto, aparte de lo mal que se le da a esta Marvel atraer talento, otro día habría que hablar de lo bien que se le da en cambio a DC fichar a golpe de talonario las estrellas que Marvel descubre. Es una práctica se popularizó con la desbandada que provocó Shooter en la Casa de las Ideas y que desde entonces no ha parado. En sentido contrario, que Marvel le ‘robe’ talento a DC, siempre ha habido muchos menos casos. Así, sobre la marcha, se me ocurren Neal Adams, Grant Morrison (de forma muy puntual)… y poco más.

      • Tras el abandono del Team MacKay de Doctor Extraño y dado que lo de Get Fury era solo una mini (y también se ha acabado) creo que con eso cierro los cómics Marvel de este año que me interesa leer. Bueno, lo que queda del Caballero de MacKay. Y supongo que el Thor de Ewing (todavía no he leído nada de su Thor, pero fuera de eventos me suele agradar casi todo lo que escribe).

        • Puedes sumar a esa lista a Lemire (aunque poco aprovecho le sacaron realmente en Marvel), Rucka (aunque siempre se prodigó poco en Marvel …y brilló menos), Johns (vale, efímero su paso por Marvel … aunque para efímero el de Tom King), Waid e incluso Mark Russell.

          • Gente como Mark Russell va demasiado por libre para cuajar en Marvel, y yo creo que les pasa lo que dice King: en DC puede hacer Esleworlds y proyectos especiales o puntuales que no solo les permiten más libertad sino otra cosa más: evitar tener que estudiarse y respetar una continuidad de historias de más de 60 años, cosa que a los guionistas actuales les da una pereza enorme (aunque tampoco es que Marvel se la tome ya tan en serio como antaño).
            El Universo DC actual es todo un infinito Else World.

              • Por lo poco que he leído de el si que la usa. Pero haya autores que son mas selectivos a cuanto continuidad se refiere. Por ejemplo puedes obviar (dentro de lo posible) la continuidad de los últimos años y usar elementos de hace lustros o décadas a gusto del autor

                • Eso también lo hace Ewing, le gusta especialmente reciclar elementos de hace muuuchos años, de los que casi nadie se acuerda ya. Y por lo que hay anunciado, lo va a volver a hacer con Thor (incluso parece que va a echar mano de Hyde y Cobra, el dúo sacapuntas de Marvel, que empezaron como enemigos de dios del Trueno, pero pronto los bajaron a las «ligas inferiores»).
                  Pero en general, controla y usa referencias y cosas de cualquier época. Por eso (y por ser el chico de moda) le encargaron que coordinara las celebraciones en torno al Marvel Cómics 1000 y el repaso a las ocho décadas de historia anteriores.

                  • Ya, pero al ser un guionista estrella si que recalca la continuidad actual con todos esos eventos y personajes de moda que quiera la editorial. No es como Johns y otros que lo que no les gustaba no es que lo ignorasen… si no que directamente hacían una purga de personajes y conceptos bastante bestia. En cambio a Morales, Ms Marvel o la Danvers nos las meten hasta en la sopa a pesar del poco interés del fandom. Puedo entender que metan a Veneno me guste o no por que el personaje si que vende lo suyo. Pero Ms Marvel ha paso por Spiderman y ahora esta con los muties para que no nos olvidemos de ella.

                    • Charlando sobre todo esto, pensaba en la pena de que Miller no haya hecho nada para Marvel desde los años 90 (salvo esas portadas horribles que le encargan ahora que el pobre ya no puede sostener ni el lápiz). Y me acordaba de que hará unos diez años (que ya estaba mayor pero no tanto) se comentó que quería volver a Marvel para hacer el Capitán América, a su modo. Pero entonces estaba Axel Alonso haciendo cosas de Axel Alonso, y supongo que cuando le mencionaran a Miller (entonces enredado con Occupy Wall Street) le debió de dar una apoplejía.
                      Lo de planificar las series de tebeos en función de las prioridades, targets deseados y estrategias de marketing de la matriz Disney es algo que ya hace tiempo que doy por inevitable. Los lectores viejunos bastante tenemos con que nos reediten los Monstruos de los 70 (que no son muy políticamente correctos), Conan y esas cosas. Para un Shang-Chi ya no da la apertura.

                      (en un Spiderman reciente, que no sé ni por qué he comprado, he visto que han incorporado a los cómics la versión de la agencia de variación temporal que sale en la serie TV de Loki, con todos sus personajes, incluido un Ouroboros que ya no se parece a Gruenwald sino al Tapón de Indiana Jones, es decir, al actor que lo interpreta. En fin, una más. Por eso yo también me compraré la mini del Get Fury de Garth Ennis, aunque solo sea por la emoción de volver a ver a Furia con su aspecto de siempre mezclado con las barrabasadas de Ennis).

                    • Miller ya estuvo «cancelado» durante una temporada con el remedo ese de Batman vs Al Qaeda del cual aun esta pidiendo disculpas, y en la cual no hace mucho le declinaron su aparición en un salón del comic británico a raíz de protestas de aficionados musulmanes. Ahora esta con ese sello suyo del cual parece que no va a ninguna parte y por eso se dedica a realizar esas portadas tan horribles que son material de coleccionista. Lo de los USA es enfermizo lo que la mierda puede venderse si lleva el nombre de alguien importante. Si no que se lo digan a Stan Lee. En teoría Miller estaba contratado como guionista principal para una serie de streaming de Corto Máltese.

                      Disney se ha cargado ya Star Wars y Marvel en materia de comics de estos últimos. Lo han corporizado totalmente volviendo a la peor época de los 90’s, infantilizándolo a tope y evitando a toda costa cualquier polémica por nimia que sea. Con lo cual ningún autor puede innovar en lo mas mínimo, incluso en las series que agonizaban en ventas y critica donde podía aparecer un Claremont y Byrne, Miller, Simonson y ect… que te levantara la serie y revolucionara el medio. Ahora todo esta estudiado y analizado para crear explícitamente un producto que no ofenda a nadie o bien que no sufra cambios para preservar a los personajes de la compañía que son una «marca» la cual esperan que den muchos reeditos fuera del propio comic en si. Por eso lo de las muertes o cambios de status quo que duran un par de números. Para mi no existe desde hace ya años continuidad Marvel en si con tanto supuesto cambio- El veteranos que compra es ya casi por inercia o nostalgia donde a veces si que sale alguna etapa disfrutable, pero muy pocas. Como ya hace mas de un lustro a un conocido gran coleccionista de comics de Marvel y DC mirando las grapas de Panini me comentaba que le daba pereza comprarse las novedades por que no reconocía a los personajes y su universo… el pobre es muy fan de DC y la Legión, con eso ya lo digo todo en cuanto a decepciones.

    • Lo bueno que tiene DC en contrapartida a la Marvel actual, es que los primeros suelen hacer mas proyectos especiales: OtrosMundos, Black Labels, miniseries o NG que van aparte de las series regulares. Con lo cual ya para empezar agrada a los autores que no se sienten tan encorsetados en la «continuidad». La cual a día de hoy en Marvel es absurda e ilógica. La cual sirve solo para venderte los eventos de cada año y que Ms Marvel, Capitana Marvel o Spider-Morales salgan en casi todos los comics de la compañía si o si por que esta los quiere presentes aunque los personajes no vendan en solitario. En lo de los Vengadores Crepusculo y el futuro crossover con los Aliens tienes estos ejemplos.

      En DC suelen ser mas solícitos con los autores que tienen mas nombre y no les van con tantas imposiciones de marketing. Suelen mangonear a los que no tienen tanto nombre o bien son noveles. Por eso es atrayente para un autor como Ewig que tiene prestigio el que al final haya probado en la competencia… y como este muy cómodo ira trabajando con el tiempo menos en Marvel. Curiosamente es Hickman el cual todavía no ha recalado en DC y el cual si va realizando proyectos especiales para Marvel muy atractivos aunque fuera de las series regulares de Marvel.

      • De Marvel poco o nada les compro de sus comics actuales (descontando las reediciones de material clásico) en cambio con DC siempre cae alguna miniserie o NG gracias a sus autores cada poco tiempo. Y por culpa de ECC no se pueden disfrutar de ciertas series debido a su manía de publicar el material al tun tun, como los Mejores del Mundo de Waid

Otros que podrían entrar en esa lista serían John Ostrander (aunque poco hizo para Marvel …y de ellos solo brilló con las minis western para el sello Max), Steve Orlando (del que poca cosa ha llamado mi atención …pero probablemente sea culpa mía), Mark Millar (que fuera de Hijo Rojo donde consiguió fama fue en Marvel, no en DC), Brian K. Vaughan (me quedo con Yorick … aunque tengo cariño también a sus Runaways, que no han brillado en otras manos), Mike Carey (parece que solo lo disfruto en Vértigo o en sus minis independientes), Andy Diggle (otro al que no le fue demasiado bien en Marvel) y Jason Aaron. Y fijo que nos olvidamos de unos cuantos.

  3. Y sí nos remontamos a otros tiempos, aparte de Neal Adams, gente como Marshall Rogers, Michael Golden, Bob Layton, David Michelinie o Walt Simonson anduvo antes por DC que por Marvel. O Alex Saviuk. O incluso Todd McFarlane y Rob Liefeld. Luego estarían casos como Alan Davis que ya tenían un pasado en Marvel UK (o la Fleetway y otras editoriales británicas) aunque se suelan identificar sus comienzos con DC.

      • Cómo sabía yo que Suso no se iba a poder resistir a hacer la lista (😈)!
        Hay esos y más nombres; de los que yo controle, de la Edad de Plata, pasaron de DC a Marvel muchos dibujantes, como Ross Andru o Infantino. Guionistas menos, pero efectivamente Shooter empezó en DC como niño prodigio y el mismo Roy Thomas les vendió sus primeros guiones a ellos antes de fichar por Marvel y crecer allí, hasta que pegó la espantá huyendo de Shooter.
        Pero cuando Marvel ficha a Andru o incluso a Gil Kane (que de todas formas ya había estado en Timely antes de DC) lo hace sobre todo porque necesita reforzar su plantilla (inicialmente mínima) para poder sacar nuevas cabeceras, en pleno crecimiento. No lo veo tanto en plan fichar a la estrella del momento. Tanto Kane como Andru subieron su caché en Marvel.
        Sí fue el caso de Marshall Rogers, Michael Golden o Walt Simonson, que con sus fichajes le ayudaron a Marvel a modernizar unas cuantas series.
        Aun así, hay pocos casos tan descarados de ‘fagotización’ como lo que hizo DC con Miller,
        un descubrimiento puro de O’Neill y Shooter, reclutado a golpe de talonario de medio millón. O no digamos con David Mazzuchelli, que fue ya rematar la jugada de ‘me llevo el paquete completo’.

        • Roy Thomas huyo mas bien de Weisenger. Shooter si que le toco aguantarlo siendo un adolescente. Curiosamente ambos fueron editores jefes de Marvel donde Roy no duro mucho sin dar la talla para el cargo, mientras Shooter reformo el chiringuito de arriba abajo convirtiéndose al final en un tirano parecido a su mentor.

          • Thomas aún duró algo, que los que vinieron a continuación… (Aparte que solo Archie Goodwin demostró tener capacidad de gestión suficiente para hacer frente a esa jaula de grillos que era la Marvel de los reinos de taifas de los guionistas/editores, tan creativa como caotica …no sorprendió que Shooter luego le pusiese fin al sistema mas pronto que tarde … Tampoco encajaba con su personalidad, claro)

    • El caso de Todd McFarlane lo pensé, pero personalmente me niego a considerlo un fichaje de talento, aunque ya hubiese empezado a llamar la atención con el Batman Año 2 y esas cosas. A Rob Liefeld ni lo considero 😈. Saviuk había llamado también la atención en DC, con Flash sobre todo, pero siempre he pensado que lo metieron en The Web of porque parecía un buen remedo de Andru mezclado con algo de Romita, es decir, un sustitutivo, aunque tuviera su gracia.

    • Alan Davis empezó en Marvel UK y también Alan Moore. Es verdad que Marvel recupera a Davis cuando ya tiene más nombre, pero también que lo pone a hacer prácticamente una continuación de lo que dibujaba en UK, siguiendo con la historia del Capi Britania, Mariposa Mental, etc.

    • Esta bien la lista y en esa época al ser profesionales del mundillo y estar tanto las oficinas de Marvel y DC en New York, era normal de saltar de una editorial a la otra y tiro por que me toca…
      Caso aparte era Byrne de como pillaba berrinches en los 90’s con los editores de una o la otra fue saltando de la una a la otra tropecientas veces… hasta que al final con el cambio de editores pasaron de aguantarle los berrinches.

        • Es que en Marvel en los 70’s el Rey estaba cabreado por que Lee se llevaba todo el merito de la creación de la Marvel amen de las putaditas de la propia editorial para que firmara un renuncio por la autoría de los personajes chantajeándole con no devolverle sus originales si no se prestaba a ello. Y ni de coña recupero todo ese material. Con su etapa en DC se demostró que necesitaba a alguien que lo encauzara correctamente con el lector de la época. Por seso incluso cuando volvió a Marvel y tuvo libertad absoluta no triunfo. Narrativa algo anquilosada e ignorar la continuidad que en ese momento era sagrada para los lectores de la época. No se estilaba hacer historias «remember» ambientadas en los 60’s. Después de su segunda etapa en Marvel se piro a la animación. A Byrne era otra cosa ya que calentaba la cabeza a Dan Didio y a Quesada. Cuando este ultimo se sustituyo por Alonso lo mando al peo. Supongo que Didio llego también a su limite e hizo lo mismo (centrado el editor en crear una continuidad mas solida prescindiendo de proyectos especiales donde si podría colocar a Byrne)
